The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah, accompanied by Mr. Beresford Ogbamey Mensah Amui Jnr, the Western Regional Sports Director has paid a one day working visit to the Essipong Sports Stadium.
In his interaction with the media, Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah disclosed that the government had sank a lot of money into the building of the Essipong Sports Stadium and other stadia across the country and therefore government would not abandon them.
He indicated that the Architecture Engineering Services Limited (AESL) has been contacted to do a comprehensive technical evaluation and assessment of all the sports stadia in the country for rehabilitation works to begin.
Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah stated that the Ministry was awaiting the technical report from AESL for it to be forwarded to Cabinet for approval.
The Minister assured Ghanaians that the stadia would not go waste since Government was bent on rehabilitating them adding that options of Public Private Partnerships would be considered for its full utilization and maintenance.
